Leading the Way

Two preeminent spokesmen for the Electric Universe, Wallace Thornhill and David Talbott, will present at EU2014, each adding powerful new material. Watch as the Speaker's List builds over the coming weeks with terrific newcomers as well as a full complement of Thunderbolts mainstays. Of particular note, Dr. Donald Scott will be joining us again as he did in EU2012, this time with a talk on a new model of magnetic structure in space.
WALLACE THORNHILL
A physicist and natural philosopher, Wallace Thornhill has spent decades questioning popular ideas about the physical world. In the past 16 years, standing on the shoulders of his predecessors, he has laid an interdisciplinary foundation for the Electric Universe paradigm. His first peer-reviewed paper on the electrical nature of stars and supernovae was published in the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, Vol 35 No. 4, Special Issue on Space & Cosmic Plasmas – August 2007.
Wal is the chief science advisor to the Thunderbolts Project and is co-author with David Talbott of Thunderbolts of the Gods and The Electric Universe. In 2010 he was was awarded a gold medal by the European Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science. For his lifelong contribution to science he received the distinguished Sagnac Award from the Natural Philosophy Alliance in 2013. He has spoken at numerous international conferences, and authored or co-authored papers ranging from the Martian "blueberry" phenomenon to the "plasma focus" at the centers of galaxies. His interviews for "Space News from the Electric Universe" have been among the most popular attractions on the YouTube Thunderbolts Channel.

DAVID TALBOTT
David Talbott will present two talks at EU 2014. The first will be a follow-up to "Exposing the Myth of Settled Science," presented at the 20th annual meeting of the Natural Philosophy Alliance in July 2013. Here, he will highlight the electrified heliosphere, where the energetic behavior of planets and moons so frequently surprises astronomers while adding cumulative support for the electric sun model. In a separate presentation, Dave will preview Episodes 4 and 5 of Symbols of an Alien Sky. The centerpiece of this presentation will be the cosmic thunderbolt and its integral relationship to hundreds of ancient archetypes.
David Talbott is the founder and director of The Thunderbolts ProjectTM. His book The Saturn Myth (1980) helped to inspire the work of several others now joined in this collaborative project. In 1996 his work was the subject of a documentary Remembering the End of the World by Canadian filmmaker Ben Ged Low. More recently, he was the co-author with Australian physicist Wallace Thornhill, of two books, Thunderbolts of the Gods and The Electric Universe. Three episodes of his documentary series (full or in part) have been among the most popular video presentations on the Thunderbolts Project YouTube Channel.
In the year 2000, David Talbott's representations of the ancient sky, based on the global accord of early cultures, inspired an intense investigation of ancient rock art by the leading plasma scientist Anthony Peratt of Los Alamos Laboratories. After several years of entering data into the Roadrunner computer at Los Alamos (largest in the world), Peratt concluded that the reconstruction was fundamentally accurate, depicting intensely energetic electric discharge formations close to the earth.

DONALD SCOTT, PhD
A New Model of Magnetic Structure in Space
Dr. Donald Scott will describe his investigation of the inherent properties of Birkeland currents and subsequent discovery that they produce unexpectedly far-reaching magnetic fields in cosmic space. These fields collect matter and compress it into concentric hollow cylinders. They also produce a long-range attractive force on other such currents. Without involving mathematics, Scott describes the results of his analysis of the magnetic structures that are produced by, and that surround, Birkeland Currents. This work and its results gives new insight into our understanding of the electrical properties of space. Click here for the math that will not be presented at the conference.
Dr Scott earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He earned a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Massachusetts, and was a member of the faculty of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst from 1959 until his retirement in 1998. During that time he was the recipient of several good-teaching awards and authored numerous scientific papers and chapters. In 1987, the McGraw-Hill Book Company published his 730-page textbook, An Introduction To Circuit Analysis – A Systems Approach. In addition, Dr. Scott published the classic, Electric Sky (2006), 256 pages of compelling material on the Electric Universe and plasma cosmology.

WILLIAM MULLEN, PhD
Hieroglyphics and the Ancient Sky
Many catastrophist theories use hieroglyphics from around the world for clues about shapes in the ancient sky that are no longer visible. Dr Mullen's talk will focus on Egyptian hieroglyphics as relevant to the Saturn and polar configuration theory. By studying those hieroglyphs which bear no obvious resemblance to things seen today, and by reading them in context, he will show which glyphs are the best clues to what our early ancestors experienced.
Dr Mullen received his BA in Classics from Harvard College in 1968 and his PhD from the University of Texas in 1972. He was a Professor or post-doctoral Fellow at Berkeley, Princeton, Boston University, and Harvard's Center for Hellenic Studies and St. John's College. Dr. Mullen settled in the Classics Department at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, in 1985.

STEPHEN CROTHERS
The Parallax Effect on Short Hair
Stephen Crothers will present the case that Black Holes and the Big Bang have been created by theorists and never observed. Black Holes are now said to be both invisible and visible. Quasars are now black holes; so are the 'blazars'. Individual black holes are also alleged x-ray sources. It is claimed that galaxies harbor a super-massive black hole at their centers, along with other black holes dispersed throughout them. All these black holes exist in an alleged expanding big bang universe. However, black hole universes are inconsistent with big bang universes. The audience will be taken through the salient facts one step at a time in this riveting mostly non-mathematical presentation. The math of General Relativity has a notorious reputation for its complexity but most of the important facts can be understood by the layman and specialist alike without any mathematics.
Crothers is a preeminent mathematician, counted among the most competent critics of modern cosmology (including both the General Theory of Relativity and popular theory of the Big Bang). He has also gained much attention for his systematic unraveling of standard Black Hole theory, showing that the mathematical model of a Black Hole follows neither from observation nor from any logical reasoning from Einstein's General Theory of Relativity.

JONATHAN WOLFE, PhD
Fractals – Changing Paradigms in Science and Education
Fractals are the strikingly beautiful images of complex and chaotic systems. While they have existed in nature for billions of years, only in the last few decades has modern mathematics and science started to acknowledge their importance. Indeed, fractals have recently transformed our understanding of a wide range of natural phenomena, and fractal math provides a new language for quantifying the patterns of nature. Unfortunately, our educational systems and our culture at large have not yet caught up with this conceptual revolution. As a society, we still try to tackle complex problems with inadequate linear solutions, and we still teach our children simple, boring, and largely irrelevant math skills that fail to serve or inspire them. Explore the exciting new realm of fractals in an engaging interdisciplinary presentation that excites and inspires with new possibilities for understanding the complexity of nature. Covering both the art and science of fractals, we explore the interconnected fractal patterns of nature, seen at scales from the microscopic to the galactic.
Dr. Wolfe is the founder and Executive Director of the Fractal Foundation, a New Mexico nonprofit that uses the beauty of fractals to inspire interest and participation in science, math and art. An artist as well as a scientist, his studies of the neurophysiology of the visual system were inspired by his love of color, form and motion, and now his knowledge of perceptual neuroscience informs his art. His love of fractals continues to spiral upward and outward, reaching ever larger audiences, through public art installations, school presentations, corporate trainings, and full-dome planetarium fractal shows. Since 2003, he has taught over 50,000 children and 25,000 adults the important and inspiring lessons of fractals, chaos and complexity.

PIERRE-MARIE ROBITAILLE, PhD
Pierre-Marie Robitaille PhD will give two talks at the conference. He is a Professor of Radiology at The Ohio State University, with a joint appointment in Chemical Physics. He initially trained as a spectroscopist and has wide ranging knowledge of instrumentation in the radio and microwave bands. A recognized expert in image acquisition and analysis, Professor Robitaille was responsible for doubling the world record in Magnetic Resonance Imaging in 1998. In 2000, he turned his attention to thermodynamics and astrophysics, demonstrating that the universality advanced in Kirchhoff's Law of Thermal Emission is invalid. He has published extensively on the microwave background, highlighting that this signal arises from water on the Earth and has no relationship to cosmology and has recently published a paper on the Liquid Metallic Hydrogen Solar Model (LMHSM).
The Sun on Trial: Gaseous Plasma or Liquid Metallic Hydrogen?
For nearly 150 years despite the lack of observational evidence, the Sun has been considered to be a ball of gaseous material. Such a postulate rests on mathematical arguments. Nonetheless, observations, not mathematics, properly determine the phases of matter. In this light, a systematic review of 40 solar findings provides ample proof that the Sun is comprised of condensed matter In this presentation, the phase of the Sun will be discussed by contrasting the gas-based Standard Solar Model (SSM) with the Liquid Metallic Hydrogen Solar Model (LMHSM). Unlike the SSM, the LMHSM does not permit the Sun to radiate internally.
The Microwave Background: Signature of the Big Bang or Essential Signature of the Earth's Oceans?
Even since Penzias and Wilson discovered that the Earth was surrounded by microwave energy, astronomers have been quick to postulate that the apparent ~3K signal represented the signature of the Big Bang. Yet long ago, Gustav Kirchhoff insisted that the setting of temperatures, using the laws of thermal emission, required enclosure. Clearly, the Big Bang can never meet this requirement. In this presentation, it will be demonstrated that the microwave fields, which surround the earth and have excited distant molecules, can be generated by the hydrogen bond within water in the condensed state. A review of the COBE and WMAP will be presented, revealing that the microwave anisotropy maps have no scientific validity. The data lack both signal to noise and reproducibility. Furthermore, the PLANCK satellite findings will be discussed. These data provide unambiguous evidence that powerful microwave fields do not exist at L2. Penzias and Wilson measured water on Earth. The correct assignment of this signal is vital to better understanding our own planet.

KONGPOP U-YEN, PhD
Evidences of Space Weather Induced Natural Disasters
Strong solar activities have long been known to cause damages to electrical grids and global communication systems. However, there exist several evidences that solar activities have strong correlation with abrupt weather conditions and tectonic activities, including storm formations, flash floods, volcanic activities and earthquakes. In this presentation, case studies of such connections are examined and discussed that are linked to electrical properties of the Earth. Simple electrical theories based on laboratory experiments are presented to explain such phenomena.
Dr. Kongpop U-yen obtained his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. As an electric universe enthusiast, he has conducted an independent research on topics related to space weather and solar activities predictions.

BOB JOHNSON
Bob Johnson is an independent researcher with a background in engineering and project management. He is a long-standing supporter of the Plasma Universe paradigm and author of the original outline for the Essential Guide to the Electric Universe. Bob has also written a number of peer-reviewed papers that consider the role of electric charge in various natural phenomena and other related subjects. He will make two presentations at the conference.
Could Electricity Explain Some 'Known Unknowns' in Geology?
Geologists don't always agree! Starting from known areas of disagreement, this talk will consider whether electrical effects can help explain features for which the mainstream geological models offer a variety of different and often contradictory interpretations. By offering a theoretical argument in favor of including electrical effects in geology, this talk complements previous work by others on the application of this idea.
How Do Tall Trees Survive? New Models for the Flow of Sap
The pressures required by the 100-year old hydraulic models of the flow of sap both up and around plants imply, in the words of one researcher, that tall trees must "live at the extreme edge of transport capability." In this talk, Bob will explain alternative models including the role of electric charge for sap flow in both the phloem and the xylem. Under these models, tall trees may be exploiting their environment rather than struggling against it. Bob's two papers on this topic can be viewed as follows:
Johnson R and Canny M, 2013. Phloem Translocation of Organic Compounds: A Possible Mechanism to Assist Osmotically-Generated Pressure Flow in Tall Trees. WATER 4, 112-128, January 5th 2013.

EV COCHRANE
The Myth of Phaethon
That the myth of Phaethon commemorates a spectacular cataclysm has been argued by students of ancient history for well over two millennia. Yet, the ultimate origins and meaning of the story continue to elude scholars. Is it possible to extract concrete meaning from this classic tale of planetary catastrophe—of stars literally falling from the skies amid cosmic upheaval? Aided by extraordinary counterparts around the world, we find powerful evidence for origins in witnessed, historical events with profound importance for modern astronomy and a host of related sciences.
Ev Cochrane earned a Master's of Science degree from Iowa State University (genetics and psychology.) He is the author of Martian Metamorphoses (1997); The Many Faces of Venus (2001); Starf*cker (2006); On Fossil Gods and Forgotten Worlds (2010); and, most recently, Reflections of a Gym Rat (2012). Mr. Cochrane is currently retired and lives in Ames, Iowa.

BEN DAVIDSON, JD
Shifting Perceptions Accompany Climate
The message has been loud and clear for many years—a community of scientists insisting that human activity is warming our planet, taking humanity to the edge of a precipice. But now, as science begins to understand earth's place in the electric solar system, the meaning of the present warming plateau becomes clearer. The Earth-Sun connection, together with the Sun's galactic environment, can help to explain climate extremes of every kind. Today, new voices and new perspectives are bridging the theoretical gaps, and independent investigations have reached some startling conclusions. No one can know the future, but some of the electrical changes in our solar system could point to catastrophic change on the horizon.
Ben Davidson is the researcher behind the Suspicious0bserver channel on YouTube, a channel that has rocketed in only 2 years to over 28 million views with 2 million added a month. Ben was classically trained in law and legal research, before taking up independent research in diverse sciences. His online presence has been a constant source of data dissemination, inspiring public interest in a variety of scientific fields, including the 'electric universe' theories. Ben focuses on the daily solar environment and the electromagnetic interactions between the sun, earth, and the galaxy. It was this interdisciplinary "due diligence" that led him to the surprising conclusions he will present at the conference.

MICHAEL H. BRILL, PhD
Ninety-East Ridge: Shoestring of the Gods?
The Ninety-East Ridge, based on the Heezen-Tharp map's representation of the ridge as straight over its 3000 miles of extent, is a geographic anomaly. To account for this straightness requires a substructure whose material has an unprecedented strength. A dimensional argument concludes that the material must be as much stronger than ordinary rock formations as a thread atop molten congealing wax is stronger than the wax. A candidate material might comprise strands of "bucky-tubes" or related carbon formations born in a chemically reducing environment. Such strands may have accreted in a carbon reservoir, floated to the surface of the Earth's mantle, become snagged in the Indian continental plate, and then been progressively pulled out of its carbon-reservoir under a string-like tension. Hear Dr. Brill describe his "strong stuff" hypothesis including compelling evidence, which has survived 20 years without refutation.
Michael H. Brill is an industrial physicist located near Princeton, New Jersey. Since obtaining his PhD in physics at Syracuse University, he has carried out extensive theoretical research in color in human and computer vision and in physics-based vision. He is co-inventor of the Emmy Award winning Sarnoff vision model. He is also a Past President of the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC), and author of more than 80 refereed technical publications, 14 US patents, numerous national standards, and a SID test pattern. He has chaired or co-chaired several conferences on color technology, vision, and digital display. Dr. Brill is a member of the Editorial Board of Color Research and Application and is also Senior Editor of Physics Essays.

STEPHEN SMITH
Mars: The Great Desert in 3-D
Martian areography tells a story of incredibly violent events. It appears from the many images sent to Earth that it once experienced powerful plasma discharges on a massive scale. Burned and blasted craters, piles of scorched dust covering almost an entire hemisphere, and great trenches that wend across its scarred face lead to the conclusion that lightning thousands or millions of times more energetic than we know today devastated Mars. Steve will discuss some of the more unusual features on Mars, presumably caused by those cataclysmic upheavals. Red/blue anaglyph images will provide a unique perspective.
Stephen Smith is the managing editor and principal writer for the Thunderbolts Picture of the Day (TPOD) feature. His archive has risen to more than 800 articles on nearly every topic addressed by the Electric Universe movement. Based on a 40-year interest in the electrical nature of the cosmos, his work reflects the pioneering discoveries by many people: David Talbott, Wallace Thornhill, Donald Scott, Ralph Juergens, and many others too numerous to mention.

DWARDU CARDONA
Earth's Primordial Stellar Host
Dwardu Cardona will show that a reconstruction of Earth's cosmic history can be distilled from the universal "mytho-historical record," complemented by studies in earth history and space science. Most recently, the strongest scientific validation comes from space, as new instruments enable the viewer to see extraordinary electro-magnetic detail across the cosmos, confirming that this is indeed an Electric Universe.
A former Senior Editor of the journal Kronos and Editor of the journal Aeon, Dwardu has published well over a hundred papers and has authored four books: God Star, Flare Star, Primordial Star and Metamorphic Star.

EDWARD DOWDYE, PhD
Solar Gravitation and Solar Plasma Wave Propagation Interaction
Dr Edward Dowdye is a laser optics engineer and former NASA physicist who argues the case for classical mechanics in attempting to explain observational quandaries that had hitherto remained the province of abstract theories like Einstein's Relativity. In his presentation this year, Dr Dowdye will tackle one of the most widely touted predictions of General Relativity (GRT), namely the bending of light paths by massive objects. He will present compelling empirical evidence that the direct relationship between light and gravitation in vacuum space does not exist. Crucially, he will point out that when GRT was conceived, plasma was unknown, and the limb of the Sun was considered to be a boundary between the photosphere and the vacuum of space. Dr. Dowdye takes account of what is now known to be a plasma atmosphere surrounding the Sun to considerable altitude and applies Gauss's law of gravitation and conventional optics to the problem.
Dr. Dowdye, who was a popular speaker at EU2012, joins us again. He is the originator of the Extinction Shift Principle, which challenges General and Special Relativity, and is an electrical engineer, formerly of NASA, with degrees in mathematics and physics.

MICHAEL STEINBACHER
Notes Toward an Electric Catastrophist Model for Geology
The modern awareness that plasma composes most of the universe requires a reevaluation of theories dating from earlier times. Plasma is electrically active and employs forces that can be many times stronger than those of mechanical erosion and tectonics. Geological formations could be generated in place as seen during a transient catastrophic episode. One possible model envisions the globe enveloped in plasma discharges within the memory of humans. Material from space and from erosion of the surface was suddenly electrically sorted and deposited to a great depth. Dust, sand, gravel, rocks, boulders, coal, and oil accumulated wherever there was dry land. Red-hot dust blown by electrically generated tornado-like winds built up strata in place: "plastered" against obstructions in a manner similar to welded material. Flooding filled the valleys between the mountains with sediments. Where electrical activity was strong enough, the loose material was lithified and even metamorphosed. In this presentation, the Four Corners region in the US will be presented as an example. Following the conference, Steinbacher will lead a tour to inspect selected nearby sites and to interpret them in light of this model. Click here for more information.
Michael Steinbacher's career started as a photographer at the Buck County Courier Times in Pennsylvania in 1966. He later joined the Air Force where he continued photography in the service. After discharge, he worked as a picture editor for the Trentonian and a staff photographer for the Miami Herald and the Daily Breeze in Los Angeles before settling in Florida to work in photographic production and freelance work. At the same time he was pursuing his theories regarding Electric Universe geology.

AP DAVID, PhD
On The Laws Of Nature
AP David's talk will consider the sources of the modern idea of 'Laws of Nature,' or as they are more usually known nowadays, 'physical laws.' He will begin by articulating the difference between descriptive and prescriptive laws: nature as directly observed versus nature idealized into geometric or other mathematical relationships. This beginning leads to surprisingly large consequences for the way in which new ideas are received by the gatekeepers of mainstream cosmology. It turns out that the revolutionary thinkers of The Enlightenment found in the Laws of Nature an attractive "divine" quality. In particular they saw ideal geometries in planetary and other celestial motions. David will suggest that the willful conflation of descriptive and prescriptive tenets in modern science, especially but not only in mathematical physics, has led to some dire consequences for science itself. He believes that as EU theorists offer their electrical interpretations, it is critically important to understand the religious nature of institutionalized resistance.
A.P. David is a classical scholar (Hellenist), who has published two academic works including The Dance of the Muses: Choral Theory and Ancient Greek Poetics, Plato's New Measure: The 'Indeterminate Dyad' and self-published several works of fiction and poetry.

IGNACIO CISNEROS
A New Perspective on Star Formation
Ignacio Cisneros will present a brief introduction to star formation theory and history along with a presentation of panoramic perspective along the galactic plane. This will be interwoven with a narrative of major inadequacies in the fundamental assumptions of the standard model of star formation that are no longer tenable in the 21st-Century. Observation of star formation across a variety of wave lengths has advanced spectacularly in recent decades. Details of star formation localities will be described using innovative composites of IR, visual and Radio imaging, and high resolution, wide angle imaging of the interstellar medium will be shared. For this, he will draw upon the new and unique capabilities of IRIS, WISE and the Planck Missions.
Ignacio is an American-educated Venezuelan poet, who fell in love with the galactic realm when he discovered the New Mexico skies. This led to a reorientation of his life path from fine art and digital graphics to science and astronomy. With a diverse educational background, Ignacio specialized in video post-production and desk top publishing before he turned to amateur astronomy in 1996. He returned to academic studies in 1999 and became involved in astronomical imaging and CCD (charge-coupled devices.) He has developed extensive experience in the observation of galactic structure, and while employed at an astronomical observatory, he began to realize that the standard theory of star formation had reached a dead end. It was his exposure to Electric Universe materials that fundamentally changed his perspective.
