The "F" word
Visualization for Forgiveness
Find a quiet place where you wont be disturbed for awhile.
Sit with your spine straight and your shoulders relaxed.
‘Relax’ the front of your body, allowing a ‘softening’ of your heart area without dropping your shoulders.
Bring to your mind’s eye an image of the person you want to forgive.
Now you’re going to ‘mentally broadcast’ your message. Like this:
“[Imaged person] I forgive you and set you free. Your actions no longer have power over me. I acknowledge that you are doing the best that you can, and I honor you in your process of unfoldment. You are free and I am free. All is well between us. Peace is the order of the day.”

I have been wondering about anything outside the US vortex...
for example, about Germany's power: they're having real discussions. We have an intelligence barrier, not a language stile. That would be fun.

NUCLEAR ENERGY FACTS REPORT – APRIL 2010
This is the latest edition of the Nuclear Energy Facts Report. The Facts Report itself contains only facts that manifest in the physical world; no opinions, conclusions, recommendations, or attempts at consensus-building. But we have found it helpful to precede the Facts Report with some explanatory material on energy production, and conclude with some comments on the historical context.
As always, we welcome input from readers. This is not intended to be public relations document for the general public, but an interactive reference document, for people who work in, or report on, the energy production field.

LIVE Japan Earthquake Map - Amazing!
Here’s a fascinating bit of infographic which I’ve been watching for the past few days. The Japan Quake Map is a satellite view of Japan including a sub-oceanic view of its surrounding faultlines. The map is animated to give you a time-lapse view of exactly what the Japanese people are going through. It’s horrific—there have been, so far, 855 quakes since the 11th of March. If you turn on sticky dots, you can watch these build over time and plot them on the map.
This is a fantastic macro-view tool built by Paul Nichols of the University of Canterbury’s Digital Media Group, who also built one for the recent Christchurch quake (which is still happening, and up to 5782 quakes) in New Zealand.

Waste In Space
Currently, a thick band of levitating space junk—composed primarily of broken satellite pieces and discarded rocket boosters—skirts the Earth. Two or three times a day, a satellite circling our planet narrowly misses a torrent of the orbital debris. This phenomenon has jeopardized not only current space travelers, but future missions as well.

Il n'est pas de raison que ce finisse
Life is to short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget the ones who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just said it would be worth it..

Next Season on Survivor
Next Season on Survivor
Have you heard about the next planned "Survivor" show?
Three businessmen and three businesswomen will be dropped in an elementary school classroom for 1 school year. Each business person will be provided with a copy of his/her school district's curriculum, and a class of 20-25 students.
Each class will have a minimum of five learning-disabled children, three with A.D.H.D., one gifted child, and two who speak limited English. Three students will be labeled with severe behavior problems.
Each business person must complete lesson plans at least 3 days in advance, with annotations for curriculum objectives and modify, organize, or create their materials accordingly. They will be required to teach students, handle misconduct, implement technology, document attendance, write referrals, correct homework, make bulletin boards, compute grades, complete report cards, document benchmarks, communicate with parents, and arrange parent conferences. They must also stand in their doorway between class changes to monitor the hallways.
In addition, they will complete fire drills, tornado drills, and drills for shooting attacks each month.
They must attend workshops, faculty meetings, and attend curriculum development meetings. They must also tutor students who are behind and strive to get their 2 non-English speaking children proficient enough to take the SOLS tests. If they are sick or having a bad day they must not let it show.
Each day they must incorporate reading, writing, math, science, and social studies into the program. They must maintain discipline and provide an educationally stimulating environment to motivate students at all times. If all students do not wish to cooperate, work, or learn, the teacher will be held responsible.
The business people will only have access to the public golf course on the weekends, but with their new salary, they will not be able to afford it. There will be no access to vendors who want to take them out to lunch, and lunch will be limited to thirty minutes, which is not counted as part of their work day. The business people will be permitted to use a student restroom, as long as another survival candidate can supervise their class.
If the copier is operable, they may make copies of necessary materials before, or after, school. However, they cannot surpass their monthly limit of copies. The business people must continually advance their education, at their expense, and on their own time.
The winner of this Season of Survivor will be allowed to return to their job.
Pass this to your friends who think teaching is easy, and to the ones that know it is hard.

Cleaning Up Power Plants and Refineries
Posted on March 9, 2011
By Christina Simeone, Policy Director
Did you know that fossil fuel-fired power plants and petroleum refineries are two of the U.S.’s largest sources of global warming pollution? In fact, these two industries are responsible for 40% of America’s greenhouse gas emissions. So it makes sense that the EPA is planning to develop rules to limit global warming pollution from power plants and refineries.
The science is clear that human activities are changing our climate. EPA notes that average global CO2 concentrations have increased 38% from pre-industrial levels to 2009, and almost all of this is due to human activity. Global temperatures have risen by 1.3*F over the last 100 years. Since power plants and refineries are major contributors to climate change, reducing pollution from these sources is urgent.
EPA’s rules will be developed under the ‘New Source Performance Standard’ (NSPS) program, which was established in 1970 under the Clean Air Act. This program is intended to reduce pollution from specific industrial sources — such as steel plants, incinerators, electric power plants, lead smelters and others — in order to protect human health and the environment. For decades, the EPA has set NSPS standards for other types of air pollution. These new rules will be part of the EPA’s overall effort to address the greenhouse gas pollution that causes global warming.
EPA’s plan is actually the result of legal action by several states and environmental organizations that have challenged the EPA for failing to address global warming in its NSPS rules. In order to prevent another lawsuit, EPA and the organizations agreed on a timeline to develop the NSPS rules that EPA must follow in order to avoid further legal action. EPA needs to issue a proposal for a power plant standard by July 26, 2011, and finalize the rule by May 26, 2012. The refinery rule must be proposed by December 10, 2011, and finalized by November 10, 2012.
EPA is seeking input from the general public, including representatives from the oil and electric utility industries, on the proposed timeline. Industry will pressure EPA to ask the courts for extensions on the deadlines, and will claim that significant pollution reductions are too expensive or are technically impossible to achieve. In order to counter the input from industry, EPA needs to hear from you by March 18, 2011 that strong global warming pollution limits need to be developed swiftly! Click here to file a public comment with the EPA.

Just DO it!!!
Earth Hour Campaigns To Shut Down Facebook, World Shudders In Fear (not really!)
Perhaps no environmental campaign has more global reach than Earth Hour, which calls for cities around the globe to shut off as many lights and electronic equipment as possible for one hour each year. But Toronto resident and Earth Hour enthusiast Angie Bird has an idea to expand Earth Hour awareness even further: shut down Facebook.
Just reading those three words might send a chill up the spine of some of the bigger Facebook addicts out there. An hour without Facebook? How will the world survive? How?!
But Bird might be on to something: Facebook has over 500 million users worldwide, having passed that milestone back in July of 2010. What better way could there be to alert the world to the message of Earth Hour than to shut down Facebook? The powering down of the social media giant’s custom server center would save a massive amount of energy of course (there are thousands of servers at the center that keep Facebook running that use coal power for some of their energy use), but the biggest benefit would simply be the publicity, especially if Facebook put up a custom 404 page explaining the reason for the service outage.
Bird doesn’t think that she’s asking a lot from the average Facebook user: “It’ll be character-building,” said the native Australian. “They’ll have amazing things to update their status about, if they get through it.”
But Jackie Cohen, editor of allfacebook.com, raises an important point: advertisers would have to agree to the idea, and they’re not too likely to do so. “No way are they going to say yes to that. It’s so bad for business,” said Cohen. As of yet, Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook team have not responded.
Earth Hour will be taking place this year at 8:30pm on Saturday, March 26th. Be sure to mark your calendars and switch off as many lights and other energy-using devices as you can for that hour if you want to be a part of the international campaign participated in over more than 120 countries worldwide. For more Earth Hour photos or to learn more about the event, be sure to check out their website or our very own slideshow of before and after photos from 2010.

Early Futures: Resources on futures for and by young children
Early Futures is a continually updated source of research, projects and notes regarding ideas that provide necessary alternatives for and by young children. The focus is on advocating futures oriented approaches for children which include: alternative institutions, play spaces, utopian visions and education. Future studies for children focuses also on major questions concerning our futures: What will the citizens of Earth need to know for the year 2050, 2100, etc? What are the most important skills for sustaining Earth and its citizens, sentient and non-sentient, in the near and far future? From the business perspective: how do we prepare ourselves and our children for the near future where 8 out of every 10 jobs have not been invented yet?

Research on Causal Layered Analysis (CLA)
Causal layered analysis (CLA) is offered as a new research theory (drawing from poststructuralism, Tantric epistemology and futures studies) and method. As a theory it seeks to integrate empiricist, interpretive, critical, and action learning modes of knowing at inner and outer levels. As a method, its utility is not in predicting the future but in creating transformative spaces for the creation of alternative futures. It is also likely to be useful in developing more effective — deeper, inclusive, longer term — policy.

Africa’s Moringa Revolution: A Plant Phenomenon to Fight Malnutrition
Africa’s Moringa Revolution: A Plant Phenomenon to Fight Malnutrition
Pastor Joseph Brenyah knows moringa well. In 2008, he initiated that Productive Agricultural Linkages and Market Systems (PALMS)program in response to perceived needs by some Ghanaian women’s groups for agricultural advice and assistance. PALMS teaches women to use modern farming technologies and grow moringa in a sustainable manner.
Moringa is nothing short of a miracle plant. Drought-resistant and capable of growing quickly in a wide variety of poor soils, much of the plant is edible by both humans and livestock.
The leaves have more betacarotene than carrots, more protein than peas, more vitamin C than oranges, more calcium than milk, more iron than spinach, and as much potassium as bananas. The seeds can be eaten like a peanut, or used to create oil. With all of its valuable properties, moringa is being touted as a means to combat malnutrition and poverty in the developing world.
